Pathology

The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory performs a wide variety of routine and STAT laboratory testing of analyses in serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluid and other body fluids. The majority of our tests are available 7 days a week, and are performed using automated chemistry analyzers which employ a combination of optical, electrochemical, enzymatic and immunoassay-based methodologies.

Our specific services include:

• STAT and routine serum chemistries including electrolyte testing, liver function tests, cardiac enzyme testing, lipid testing, anemia-related studies, thyroid function and other endocrine studies
• Serological testing for HIV
• Urine chemistry
• THYROID Profile
• Hormone Assay
• Cancer Marker

The Clinical Hematology Laboratory performs a wide variety of basic and advanced hematology testing on whole blood, serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluids and other body fluids.

Routine hematology and coagulation testing is available 7 days a week. Additionally, advanced hematological tests are a performed using a variety of techniques including electrophoresis based methods. Specific areas include:

• Routine hematology testing including complete blood count, blood differential, smear morphology and bone marrow staining
• Routine coagulation testing (PT and PTT)
• Hemoglobin electrophoresis

Clinical pathology supports the diagnosis of disease using laboratory testing of blood and other bodily fluids and tissues, and microscopic evaluation of individual cells. Clinical pathology testing is available 7 days a week.

The Immunology Lab at North City performs tests that aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune, infectious and allergic diseases. The methodology includes ELISA assays, indirect immunofluorescence. Following tests are performed here

The Microbiology Laboratory receives samples from patients to identify organisms that are responsible for infection including bacteria, fungi and parasites. The laboratory workflow is handled by medical technologists specialized in microbiology and is staffed 7 days a week

Testing

Testing performed by the Microbiology Laboratory includes:

• Culture of blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), stool, tissue and other human samples for aerobic, anaerobic, mycobacterial and fastidious bacterial species as well as fungus
• Direct staining for bacteria and fungi via Gram stain, Modified Acid Fast stain.
• Examination of stool and other body fluids for ova and parasites

Our histopathology laboratory provides a number of services that involve examining the tissues and ultimately detect diseases. The complete range of services offered by laboratories include techniques like necropsy to sophisticated histological processing, as well as expert evaluation by pathologists. These histopathology services are availed in order to know the cause and provide appropriate results. The other additional services offered are:

• Specialized histochemical stains for specific cellular components
• Processing for producing thin sections in support of reproductive pathology and neuropathology
• Embedding for microtomy of hard tissues and devices and peripheral nerves
